Keith Urban - Love, Pain And The Whole Crazy Thing [2006]

KEITH URBAN - LOVE, PAIN AND THE WHOLE CRAZY THING, album released November 7th 2006.

Love, Pain And The Whole Crazy Thing is the fifth solo album by Australian country singer Keith Urban.

Love, Pain And The Whole Crazy Thing was released on November 7th 2006, just after country singer and songwriter Keith Urban entered ? of his own accord ? into treatment for alcoholism. With Urban having married actress Nicole Kidman just months before, the timing couldn't be better. After all, Urban is trying to get well at the very peak of his life ? thus far ? personally and professionally. Be Here, his last album, is, at the time of this writing, at nearly the four-million mark in sales. As fine as that disc is, this one is another giant leap for Urban as an artist. Love, Pain And The Whole Crazy Thing is slicker than anything Urban has issued before, but that's because it's more ambitious as well. Urban is a rocking guitarist, a complete wildman on the electric six-string, and he can combine his tough, unhinged approach to playing guitar with pop songwriting and utterly brilliant production elements that layer strings, drum loops, fiddles, banjos, E-Bows, and Hammond B-3s. Add a songwriting style that touches on the classic elements of rock, country, and mainstream pop, and you have something that hasn't been heard in the country genre in this way before.

John Legend - Once Again [2006]

JOHN LEGEND - ONCE AGAIN, album released October 2006.

John Legend [born John Stephens on December 28, 1978 in Springfield, Ohio] is a three-time Grammy winning American RnB singer, songwriter, and pianist. His debut studio album, the platinum selling Get Lifted, was released in late 2004.

This is the follow up to the extremely successful album Get Lifted, and many people were wondering if John Legend could produce something even nearly as good as his first album. Well he's done even better. The album is full of retro music with a fresh modern beat, all embellished by his amazing vocal abililty and song-writing capabilities. The album begins with Save Room, the first single and it sets you up for a great album. Other stand-out tracks are Heaven, Again and Where Did My Baby Go. Heaven is the second single and uses an old sample to give this song a new dimension because Legend isn't the only one singing. All of the other songs sound as though they could easily be classics, and there really are no songs you always press skip on.

Tracks:
01 Save Room
02 Heaven
03 Stereo
04 Show Me
05 Each Day Gets Better
06 P.D.A. [We Just Don't Care]
07 Slow Dance

All Saints - All Hits [2001]

ALL SAINTS - ALL HITS, album released 2001.

All Hits is a collection of singles from All Saints which have all reached the top ten, five of which were UK number ones. Includes the Artful Dodger & Melanie Blatt collaboration Twentyfourseven and Big Wheels, the debut solo singlefrom Shaznay Lewis.

In light of the un-harmonious five years Melanie, Shaznay, Nicole and Natalie spent together as All Saints, perhaps this anthology should have been titled All Fights instead of the more agreeable All Hits. Despite having two massive hit singles in 2000 [with Pure Shores and Black Coffee], and the release of their second album [Saints and Sinners], the girls' rows were viewed more newsworthy than their continued chart success. From early tunes such as I Know Where It's At, right through to their appropriately titled final release All Hooked Up the quartet produced some of the catchiest hooks in pop. on both their studio albums, they recruited the hippest producers of the time, including Nellee Hooper, Cameron McVey and William Orbit. These top bods merged the girls' soulful vocals with the trendiest beats, producing classics such as War of Nerves and Bootie Call. The best of these albums and more are included on All Hits. Also included is Mel's solo collaboration with Artful Dodger [Twentyfourseven] and two powerful new tracks penned and performed by Shaznay, which are sneakily hidden at the end of a bonus remix of Pure Shores. I Feel You is an epic five minuter, sounding similar to Saints's classic Never Ever but with the other three's harmonies being replaced by a gospel choir. The second Shaz track Dreams is an Orbit style pop-trip composition that strangely [or perhaps predictably] echoes Pure Shores.

Tracks:
01 Pure Shores
02 Never Ever
03 Under the Bridge
04 Lady Marmalade [98 Remix]
05 I Know Where It's At
06 Twentyfourseven [Artful Dodger feat. Melanie Blatt]
07 Black Coffee
08 Bootie Call [Single Version]
09 All Hooked Up [Single Version]
10 War of Nerves [98 Remix]
11 Pure Shores [2 Da Beach U Don't Stop Remix]

13 Dreams

All Saints - Studio 1 [2006]

ALL SAINTS - STUDIO 1, album to be released UK November 13th 2006.

On hearing All Saints tremendous comeback single Rock Steady, Cheryl Tweedy of Girls Aloud sniped that it was influenced by the Girls [whose own sound, she failed to add, owed much to the Saints]. Saint Mel Blatt's dry retort - "We could only aspire to be like Girls Aloud" - proved that the reunited 1990s foursome are taking up where they left off six years ago. Studio 1 offers a fresh take on their girl-group style. Always R&B-inclined, their harmonies are now judiciously seasoned with reggae and ska. Their differences apparently behind them, Blatt, Shaznay Lewis and the Appleton sisters sigh and yearn as one, mostly to delightful effect. The 2Tone-ish Scar overflows with sweetness, but there's sizzling suspicion on the dancehall-pop Hell No, and indignation on the wayward reggae of Too Nasty. These thirty-something mums still got it going on.

Tracks:
01 Rock Steady
02 Chick Fit
03 On And On
04 Scar
05 Not Eazy
06 Hell No
07 One Me And U
08 Headlock
09 Too Nasty
10 In It To Win It

12 Fundamental

Cassie - Me And U [2006]

CASSIE - CASSIE [With Bonus Tracks], album released in US 8th August and released in UK 28th August 2006.

Cassandra Ventura [born August 26, 1986], professionally known as Cassie, is an American RnB and pop singer and former fashion model. She is best known for her hit 2006 single "Me And U". Ventura was born in New London, Connecticut to a Filipino father and an African American mother. She attended the preparatory Williams School on the Connecticut College campus in New London, graduating in 2004. She is best known for her single "Me And U", which is ascending the Billboard charts.

Ventura became a recording artist unexpectedly. Shortly after being introduced to music producer, Ryan Leslie, her mother requested that she record a song for her as a birthday gift. Ventura approached Leslie about producing the song, and he put together a duet for them called "Kiss Me". As it turned out, Ventura's mother wasn't the only one who loved the song. Leslie played "Kiss Me" for Tommy Mottola, former chairman of Sony, and the record mogul behind the careers of Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and most notably Mariah Carey. He offered Ventura a management deal, and weeks later she struck a deal with Leslie to produce her debut album. She signed with Diddy's record label Bad Boy Recordings, after he heard the track "Me And U" played in a club.
